IUPAT commends the Senate and leadership of President Biden for passing a substantial, bipartisan investment in our infrastructure. Our union of 140,000 in the skilled trades stands ready to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure. The opportunity created by this bill will provide for investment in marginalized communities, create work on construction sites, and continue to lift our economy. While there is always more work to be done, this is a huge step forward and IUPAT thanks all who came together to make it happen.
Incoming IUPAT General President Jimmy Williams Jr. said: “This bill represents a historic task for our nation – rebuilding our crumbling roads, bridges, hospitals, and schools. We look forward to the House and Senate coming together to pass a robust companion piece of legislation that addresses the dire need to invest in our communities through addressing climate change, ensuring labor standards and workers rights, and access to healthcare. We hope that the companion reconciliation package is passed with the same level of urgency and momentum.”
